At Raymont-Osman Product Design we can assist you from your initial idea through to a fully functioning and finished product, individual stages or through the entire product lifecycle:

Ideation

The first part of any product design cycle is a great idea. You may have that idea before coming to us, but if not, we can definitely help work one out! We offer several methods of ideation, from a simple chat to a fully structured creativity session.

Research

Once there is an idea, the next stage is to gather as much knowledge and data as possible in order to maximise the product’s potential. This includes: scoping out any competitors you are likely to have, customer preferences, the strengths and weaknesses of the current offerings, whether there are any intellectual property opportunities, restrictions, standards or requirements of the locality your product is aimed at.

Put simply, research is crucial, with the ability to make or break your product.

Conceptualisation

On completion of your research, it is time to start creating! From the information we have learnt about the market, volumes and legal requirements of the product, we can begin to do several things:

Product Specification Writing

The key to any well-functioning product is a carefully-defined specification. Through the creation of a rigorous project specification prior to production, we enable you to have a well-informed idea of how your product is likely to perform before any major investment takes place.

Industrial Design

With the research and specification in hand, our Industrial Designers can get to work, within our studio, concepting your product and creating the first manufacturable visualisations. This stage can also involve mechanical and electronic conceptualisation, creating top-level designs which display every aspect of your product’s function.

Prototyping and Proof of Concept

Should your product rely heavily upon a specific component working in a new and novel way not previously conceived, then this may well be the most crucial element of your product development process. Through various methods including 3D printing, breadboard testing and user experiences, we will test all aspects of your design, protecting your investment by  creating working prototypes to test particular sub-sections, functions or aspects.

Detailed Product Design

The conceptualisation stage will have produced a proof of concept for every aspect of your product. Now it's time to pull this all into a manufacturable design.

At Raymont-Osman, we pride ourselves in the rigour of our detailed design process. During this stage, we aim to conduct several Design for Manufacture (DFM) reviews with suppliers, simulations and Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) studies in order to mitigate the risk of potential problems with the finished product.

Typically created on the SolidWorks platform, our award-winning CAD Designers are well-experienced in creating A-class surfacing to ensure a world-class appearance for your product.

Testing and Validation

After detailed design is complete, validation is provided using high-end prototypes. Once prototypes have passed all initial test criteria, then it’s time to begin production. Upon arrival of the first samples, we can then evaluate the entire product as a single unit, ensuring that it is fit for purpose.

Injection Moulding trials test and inspection

At Raymont-Osman, you and your product will have unrestricted access to a wide range of high-end tools and equipment for testing and validation – from force testing machines and microscopic inspection equipment, to the ability to host focus groups. Whatever you need, we can make sure your product is ready for market.

Production Support

We can also assist you beyond the initial design stages. Once manufacturing has begun, we can help you diagnose and solve manufacturing issues by inspecting parts, Injection Moulding trials and strength testing of components.

Need help with your assembly line? We can help you with all jigs and fixtures, as well as provide the expertise for the initial set up to get you running and into production. Should you require a comprehensive quality checking process, then we can be there to help you to minimise the chance of product failure.
Product Release

Each Raymont-Osman designed product is bespoke and tailored to the unique and individual needs of the companies we represent. We take the time to fully understand the quirks and intricacies of your specification and, as a result, you can be assured that, come product release day, you will have a product of which we are proud!

Product Design Reviews and Product Refreshes

Thinking about a design refresh on your current product? Look no further.

Our experienced team of product designers can undertake a review of any current product, combined with user feedback to suggest a range of modifications. This may range from ease of build, enhancing usability, economy or any other aspect of the design which you feel needs updating.
