Congratulations to Zoe Kitson for winning the first ever Raymont-Osman Design and Development Prize at The University of Birmingham's School of Engineering for her project on Blood Clot Removal Devices.

Congratulations also to Laura Gillingham, Charles Bowen and David Scott who were all finalists and received Honourable Mentions.

We started this prize to promote design and development as a career and it was open to both BEng and MEng Students at the start of their final year. The Students were asked to summarise what they will design and / or develop for their final year project, how they will do it and highlighting why it is important or interesting.

Our team all reviewed each application in detail and we were delighted with the capability and skill these Engineers show so early in their careers.

Tom Osman, the director of Raymont-Osman Product Design presented certificates and the prize money at an informal social event organised by Dr Jason Stafford, The Coordinator of the final Year Project Module.

Thanks also to Professor Duncan Shepherd and Dr Naomi Green for their support in designing and setting up the prize. There is also a greta write up on the University of Birmingham Website
